ARTIST WORKSHOPS

When I'm not making my own projects, I love being able to share my passion and experience in filmmaking. If you or your organization are looking for a unique learning experience I can be booked for workshops, panels and speaking engagements. I have taught a number of workshops on writing, directing and the filmmaking process through organizations such as TIFF, POV and TDSB Creates. I have spoken about my journey into the world of filmmaking in educational setting like SHAD Waterloo, Branksome Hall and U of T. I have also sat on panels at Toronto Metropolitan University providing feedback for fourth year film students on their thesis films and taken part in screening and Q&A sessions. If this sounds like it might be a good match for your organization/classroom/event please contact me and we can discuss how I may best tailor my experience to fit your needs!

TESTIMONIALS

"Julianna Notten's workshop on crowdfunding at the 2020 TIFF Next Wave Co-Lab for emerging filmmakers was so well-organized, engaging and informative, with polished and impactful visuals. She was also a joy to collaborate with in outlining the session to ensure it met learners' needs."

Steph Guthrie / Youth and Community Initiatives Manager 2019 / TIFF

As part of our 2021 Media Training Program, Julianna Notten was able to break down the daunting task of writing a script to simple digestible conversations about how to tell a story. Her workshop introduced our emerging filmmakers to the key elements of structuring a story and writing believable dialogue. As a workshop facilitator, her delivery was clear and engaging and her prep style was very collaborative!

Oyin Olalekan / Programs Manager / POV

Julianna was such a welcomed guest in our senior visual art class. We sincerely appreciated hearing about her educational journey and experience working in the film industry. Her inclusive, approachable manner and her sincerity made students feel comfortable in small group discussions. Her insights were so appreciated and valued. Julianna was also very accessible during the planning stages of her visit and worked collaboratively to ensure our time together was optimized. We would have her return to our class in a heartbeat!
